You've still got a bit of a wait for the live shows to twirl into action!

The new series of Strictly Come Dancing kicked off last weekend – but those tuning in this Saturday expecting to see Danny John-Jules, Lee Ryan, Dr Ranj Singh, Faye Tozer and co taking to the dance floor are going to be disappointed!

That’s because there’s a two week break between the launch show and the first live episode where the celebs start dancing properly for the first time – the first Strictly Come Dancing live show is on BBC1 at 6.15pm on Saturday 22nd September.

The time in between is to give the celebs a chance to practice before they have to impress the judges – Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli, Dame Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood.

Strictly the Best

However, all is not lost for Strictly fans this Saturday because to get everyone in the mood for the live shows, BBC1 is showing Strictly the Best, which showcases some of the show’s most memorable moments with former faces recalling their time on the dancefloor.

Debbie McGee, who took part last year, recalls: “I felt as if I was in a fairy tale. Doing Strictly showed people that you don’t have to feel your age and you can have a good time.”

While Jill Halfpenny, who took part in the second series in 2004, says of her experience: “Strictly is just the perfect family show. I do still watch it but I haven’t tried the jive for a while – I think my knees would hurt.”

This Morning host Ruth Langsford, who danced with Anton du Beke, recalls her experience in 2017, saying: “Strictly was a once in a lifetime opportunity and Anton was such good fun and very kind. We laughed so much in training and were quite rude, we had to be careful to remember when we had microphones on.”

Strictly the Best will be shown on Saturday 15th September at 7.10pm on BBC1. And the Strictly Come Dancing live shows will begin on Saturday 22nd September at 6.15pm.
