Rory Bremner has become the fourth casualty of Strictly Come Dancing 2011, following a vote which once again saw Nancy dell’Olio narrowly escape elimination.

The impressionist found himself in the bottom two with Nancy and Anton du Beke – who were facing the chop for the second week running – but he and partner Erin Boag finished bottom after the judges’ scores from Saturday night had been combined with the public votes.

And while he appeared disappointed to have been given the boot from the competition, he said he had enjoyed the experience – naming his quickstep from the previous week as the highlight.

“Well, a close second was shimmying next to John Prescott,” he joked. “But I loved that quickstep, it was the best dance of my life,” he said, before telling Erin, “Thank you for choreographing it for me and thank you for dancing with me.”

Erin also congratulated him on his prowess in the competition, saying, “You’ve been so wonderfula nd I want you to hold your head high because you did great.”

Rory had received a mixed response from the judges for his cha cha cha on Saturday night’s show, with Bruno Tonioli describing the dance as ‘like a cock rooster chasing the hen around the yard’.

And Len Goodman said of his routine, “You’re like the government – there’s a lot going on and not all of it is good.”

Eleven couples now remain in the competition, with Jason Donovan, Harry Judd, Chelsee Healey, Audley Harrison and Russell Grant all among those who lived to dance another week.

Next Saturday’s show will be a special Halloween-themed edition.
