Strictly Come Dancing scored a convincing victory over X Factor in the ratings despite a small drop in viewers for Saturday night’s show.
According to overnight figures the BBC One programme pulled in an average audience of 9.6m – 143,000 fewer than tuned in last weekend.
Despite this the gap between Strictly and The X Factor widened as the latter also saw its ratings fall.
The ITV show was seen by an average audience of 7.5m – a drop of 300,000 from the previous weekend.
A further 345,000 saw the show on the catch-up service ITV+1.
Saturday night saw the two shows overlap by 20 minutes after X Factor began at 8pm.
While Strictly may be winning the battle on Saturday nights, the show lost out in the ratings to The X Factor last Sunday when both results shows aired.
In that instance the ITV show scored 9.2m viewers for their live results show between 8 and 9pm, compared to 8.4m for the pre-recorded Strictly show which ended just before X Factor began.
