The 2011 series of Strictly Come Dancing is set to be the most lavish yet – with a final that will be screened in 3D, according to The Sun.

The paper reports that the final will take place in the Blackpool Ballroom – which is usually the venue for one week during the series – and BBC1’s HD channel will offer the show in the 3D format.

And one show during the series will be held at Wembley Arena, with proceeds from the 6,500 ticket sales going to Children In Need.

That show will take place on November 19 – four weeks before The X Factor final is due to be held there.

The Sun also claims that the next series will feature the best line-up of contestants yet – with Nancy Dell’Olio and footballer Robbie Savage rumoured to be among the celebrities taking part.

“I’m a bit doubtful of being in 3D,” Bruce Forsuth joked. “I hope my chin doesn’t knock people off their sofas at home.”

And the presenter added, “I am delighted that we’ll be going to Wembley for this year’s Strictly. When I first got the call I thought it was to play football!”

BBC One controller Danny Cohen said, “These two special moments will see drama, excitement and tension go up another level.”

The new series of the show – which will be the ninth – is set to begin in the autumn.
