Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has managed to get back on his feet after undergoing a hip replacement operation at the weekend.
The acid-tongued judge went for surgery on Sunday morning after years of dancing took their toll on his joints.
The choreographer, who has been on the panel since Strictly’s launch, said he was ‘feeling great’ as he recovered from the procedure, but was still to tackle walking.
Strictly host Sir Bruce Forsyth jokingly led a chorus of ‘hip hip hooray’ in anticipation of the operation during Saturday night’s programme.
Following the procedure, Craig told fans via Twitter: “Shoot me down, but I won’t fall, I am titanium.
“Hip op done and have stood for the first time now for the walking bit – feeling great though.”
Speaking about the need for the procedure recently, he said: “It’s all those years of can-cans and dropping in the splits.
“The problem is, of course, it’s like all sports injuries. Sportsmen and women need hip replacements. It was all those years of classical ballet and forcing turn-outs. It can be quite detrimental to your body.”
The op was scheduled around his Strictly commitments and he is expected to return to the BBC1 show this weekend.
