The remaining couples in Strictly Come Dancing have taken to the floor for the fourth week, this time dancing the samba and the American Smooth.

This time it was the turn of Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler to kick things off – and as with previous shows, their routine got a thumbs-up from the judges.

Craig Revel Horwood praised their “amazing control”, while Arlene Phillips said the “glamour of Hollywood was brought to the dancefloor”.

However Gabby Logan and James Jordan didn’t receive quite such a rapturous reception for their samba, with Arlene saying the TV presenter “looked like a sparrow picking crumbs”.

Dominic and Lilia, dancing an American Smooth to Robbie Williams’ Straighten Up And Fly Right followed, and then it was the turn of Kate Garraway.

And as in previous weeks, the judges weren’t too kind to the GMTV presenter. Arlene said that the pair’s samba to Dancing Queen looked “more like a dancing quail”, while Craig said the performance was “entertaining for all the wrong reasons”.

John Barnes – who was saved by the judges after being in the bottom two last week – was next on to the dancefloor, although his American Smooth did little to impress the panel. “You messed it up big time,” Bruno Tonioli told him.

The judges were similarly unimpressed by Kenny and Ola, although things picked up once Kelly Brook and Brendan Cole took to the floor. Bruno described their dance as “pure Hollywood” and gave them full marks.

Gethin and Camilla were next, followed by Letitia Dean, who impressed the judges this week.”You’ve thrown off that market stall persona forever,” Arlene said after the former EastEnder’s performance. Len Goodman said it was Letitia’s “best dance to date”.

The final two couples received a generally positive response, with Penny Lancaster Stewart’s samba impressing the panel. “You can certainly use your assets!” Bruno told her.

Finally, Matt Di Angelo and Flavia Cacace received rave reviews for their American Smooth. “Fantastic…I loved it”, Craig Revel Horwood said, while Arlene called the EastEnder a “Matt-inee idol”.

The results will be revealed on Sunday evening’s show.
