Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ashley Taylor Dawson has revealed he may well miss the birth of his second child if it clashes with the first live show.
The Hollyoaks star, who will make his dancefloor debut in Saturday night’s launch show, us due to become a father again on September 26, just two days before the live heats kick off.
And he admitted that he may be left in a tricky situation if the baby’s birth were to coincide.
“I’ve got a baby due on the 26th, I’m full-time at work,” he said.
“We’ll work it out as we go along but I don’t want to miss the first show, I know that much. I don’t want to be worst father of the year either.”
He added: “I think I’d dance really quickly and get back to the birth.”
Ashley – who has a two-year-old son with his partner Karen McKay, also revealed he had been trying to work out for a while what to do if the birth and the show were at the same time.
“From the beginning we’ve thought about this – I assumed contractually I’d be here and if you’re here you’re here so I don’t know,” the actor explained.
“I work with the producers here and my producer and see how it happens, but fingers crossed it comes early or late, or just not on the night.”
The launch show for this year’s series, in which the 15 celebrities will be paired with their professional partners, kicks off on Saturday night at 6.50pm on BBC One.
