Craig Revel Horwood has called Stepping Out ‘a car crash waiting to happen’.

The straight-talking Strictly Come Dancing judge told The Sun he wasn’t impressed with the format of ITV’s rival dance contest, which sees celebrities team up with their real-life partners rather than professionals.

He said: “It’s a car crash waiting to happen. You have two novices on Stepping Out, so it’s basically the blind leading the blind. The results could be terrible.

“On Strictly, you do have professional dancers to teach you, but they can’t just drag you around – the male celebrities have to lead and the women follow.

“Any show that promotes dance is a good thing, but it will be interesting to see how well their dancing on Stepping Out turns out.”

Craig is back for Strictly’s 11th series and said he enjoyed the rumour that X Factor judge Louis Walsh wanted to take part.

“I would have loved to have Louis Walsh on Strictly,” he said. “He would be hilarious. I can just imagine him there in all his spangles and glitz.

“I was killing myself laughing when I heard he had said he wanted to come on the show, but somehow I think he may not have been serious.”
