Strictly Come Dancing’s Ricky Whittle may be sued by the photographer he allegedly ran over, lawyers said.

The Hollyoaks actor was arrested in the early hours of last Friday after an incident which followed a party for the cast of the drama at a Liverpool bar.

It’s alleged that as the star got into his car to drive home, his vehicle struck a photographer, Steve Farrell, and left him with minor injuries.

Mr Farrell is now taking legal advice from Manchester law firm Pannone in relation to a potential civil injury claim.

Lawyer Nick Harrison said: “At this point in time we are making enquiries into the incident.

“Mr Farrell maintains that he was going about the normal course of his business as a freelance photographer when he was struck by a vehicle being driven by Mr Whittle.

“If the evidence suggests that Mr Whittle drove negligently into Mr Farrell, then Mr Farrell may well have a case for claiming compensation for his injuries and any loss of earnings.”

Whittle, 29, was questioned by police for much of Friday before being bailed pending further inquiries.

He went on to appear on Strictly at the weekend, where he was saved from leaving the show following a dance off with Natalie Cassidy.
