Strictly Come Dancing star Tom Chambers has spoken of the injury that almost forced him to miss Saturday’s show – and vowed to ‘dig deep and fight on’.

Holby City actor Tom, one of the frontrunners in BBC1’s pro-celebrity dance contest, was practising the quick step on Monday with partner Camilla Dallerup when he fell and hurt his shoulder.

He told whatsontv.co.uk: “We were flying around doing the quick step and there was a wall in the way and somehow I ended up with my shoulder and neck wedged against it.

“I went to an osteopath and he could tell which bones were out of order and crunched them all back in together again. So it’s a bit stiff but it’s fixed.

Defiant Tom, who plays registrar Sam Strachan in Holby City, added that he wouldn’t allow any injury to put him out of the dance competition, saying: “I have to be OK, there’s no other way round it. You’ve got to grit through it, dig deep and fight on.”

He went on to describe Strictly as ‘the most magical thing to be involved in’.
