Susanna Reid says it’s been an ’emotional time’ since she split from her longterm partner and left her presenting role on BBC Breakfast.

The Strictly Come Dancing runner-up recently left Breakfast to take up an anchor role on ITV’s new Good Morning Britain, and she also announced the end of her relationship with Dominic Cotton, father to her three sons.

Susanna told Woman magazine: “It’s nice having some time off with the boys. It’s been an emotional time – but we’re working things out, and hopefully it’ll be for the best.”

Susanna, 43, is a vastly experienced live TV presenter and will be alongside Ben Shephard, 39, who was a big hit when he fronted GMTV.

She said she wasn’t bothered by critics: “I’m just aiming to create a great programme that the viewers love.

“Obviously live broadcasting is difficult – but it’s a challenge, and really exciting. There are lots of reasons to take a new job and it’s too good an offer to turn down.

“I’m looking forward to my new start.”

Last year Susanna was voted the most popular BBC Breakfast presenter of all time in a poll.
