Swash among casualties on ‘Total Wipeout’

Former EastEnder Joe Swash was among six stars injured while filming a celebrity edition of the gameshow Total Wipeout, according to The Sun.

The paper reports that Swash – who played Mickey Miller on the soap – required hospital treatment for an arm injury he sustained while filming the show in Argentina.

He was hurt while taking part in the Dizzy Dummies challenge – in which contestants are spun at high speed on a special merry-go-round before jumping off to complete an assault course.

Swash, who won I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in November 2008, arrived at Heathrow Airport on Friday with his arm in a sling.

Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Cleo Rocos was also among the injured, and returned home on Friday with her leg strapped up after suffering a knee injury.

Other participants who were hurt included Olympic hurdling champion Sally Gunnell, who suffered severe bruising to her thighs, TV presenter Dominic Littlewood who hurt his leg, and children’s TV host Kirsten O’Brien who also injured her knee.

Fitness instructor Kevin Adams – one of Jade Goody’s closest friends, was also among the injured, tearing ligaments after taking part in the show.

They were treated by medics on the set of the show.

“Total Wipeout is a tough, physical game show and the celebrities did have some injuries during filming,” said a spokesperson for the programme.

“However, contestants’ health and safety is our first priority and anyone injured received immediate treatment.”
