Great Celebrity Bake Off, 8.00pm, C4

“Scones are the easiest thing in the world to make,” declares Paul Hollywood, scowling in the famous tent. Good luck to this week’s celebrities, then, as Loose Women’s Stacey Solomon, Kaiser Chiefs frontman and former Voice UK coach Ricky Wilson, Perri Kiely from Diversity and Apprentice legend Nick Hewer try to make scones look straightforward. Then there’s a very messy technical to tackle, before the showstopper – a personalised croquembouche AKA a self-portrait made out of profiteroles! The results vary from the spectacular to Nick’s pitiful bake, so bad that even Paul rolls his sleeves up to try to salvage it. Something tells us this is Nick’s first and last foray into the kitchen! Mum, times vary, BBC2

Jason and Kelly are getting ready to go on holiday, so Pauline and Derek bring a suitcase for them and Kelly’s awful mum Carol (a scene-stealing Tanya Franks) turns up. In an example of how Mum effortlessly treads the fine line between comedy and tragedy, amidst the mayhem, Michael tries to hide sad news from everyone apart from Cathy. Will it inspire him to confess his love, especially now they’ve ‘been to garden centres’ together?! Rating: ****

Shetland, times vary, BBC1

Shetland

When MIT take over Lizzie’s case tonight they arrest him – but is Perez right to think Thomas is being scapegoated? Rating: ****
