It began as an award winning faux Grindhouse trailer and became an internet sensation via YouTube. Now, Hobo With A Shotgun, director Jason Eisener’s affectionate tribute to the exploitation movies of the 1970s and 1980s, is a full-on, no-holds-barred, kick-ass movie starring Rutger Hauer in the title role.
To celebrate the UK theatrical release, Midnight Movies and Momentum Pictures will be hosting the London premiere of the film at alternative cinema space XOYO on Tuesday, 5 July from 7.30pm. Jason Eisener will be in attendance to introduce the film and to take part in a Q&A session. The evening will also include live music acts, street art, and a guest DJ set from Olly Dixon (Filthy Dukes). Tickets for this event are on sale now. For more information, visit the Midnight Movies website.
And if you fancy a double dose of retro homages to the days of cinema past, then the Prince Charles Cinema in London is screening Grindhouse and Hobo With A Shotgun back to back on 14 July. The cinema is also running a competition for budding film makers to create their own Grindhouse style movie trailer. Check out some of the entrants so far.
Hobo With A Shotgun opens at UK cinemas on 15 July
