The parents of Madeleine McCann will open their hearts in a special documentary to mark one year since their three-year-old daughter went missing in Portugal.
In the emotional interview, due to be screened on ITV1 on Wednesday, Kate and Gerry talk openly about the night their daughter disappeared, what it was like becoming arguido suspects, and how they are coping 12 months on.
They also talk about the need to introduce an Amber Alert system across Europe, which alerts members of the public as soon as a young person is reported missing.
The McCanns attracted much press attention when Madeleine disappeared from the family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007.
The documentary is the only TV programme Kate and Gerry agreed to be filmed for in the run-up to the anniversary.
Madeleine, One Year On: Campaign For Change, screens on Wednesday, April 30 at 8pm on ITV1.
