Actress Kerrie Hayes has revealed her BAFTA nomination was completely unexpected.

The Mill star is up for best leading actress alongside Helena Bonham Carter (for Burton And Taylor), Olivia Colman ( for Broadchurch) and Maxine Peake (for The Village).

“It’s amazing. You’ve got those three names and then it’s a bit like, ‘Who’s this?’,” said the Kerrie, who plays mill worker Esther Price in Channel 4’s period drama.

“That’s how I felt really, but also I’m absolutely made up. And it’ll be nice to get to meet them (Helena, Olivia and Maxine) because I admire their work.”

Officially known as Arqiva British Academy Television Awards, the event takes place on May 18 at the Theatre Royal in London and can be seen on BBC1 the same night.

Kerrie, who has been busy filming the second series of The Mill, admitted she has yet to decide on her outfit for the glittering ceremony.

“I haven’t got a dress sorted yet, I haven’t got anything sorted. I leave everything to the last minute, so knowing me, it’ll probably be the day before when I start c****ing myself,” she added.

The second series of The Mill will air on Channel 4 in the summer.
