The Secret Life of Walter Mitty - Ben nStiller

Serving as both director and star of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Ben Stiller turns James Thurber’s classic short story about a hapless, henpecked daydreamer into a dashing adventure comedy whose mild-mannered protagonist this time actually carries out his fantasies of heroic derring-do. Ignore the liberties the film takes with the original (something the 1947 Danny Kaye movie also did, much to Thurber’s annoyance), and this version proves to be a briskly entertaining, glossily photographed, globe trotting romp, with Stiller’s hero, here a Life magazine photo editor, trekking to Greenland, Iceland and Afghanistan in search of Sean Penn’s elusive photographer and the missing negative that is to be the magazine’s final cover shot.
