EastEnders star Danny Dyer and Coronation Street’s Jane Danson have nothing more in common than each being in one of the nation’s favourite soaps, right? Wrong! Cast your mind back a few years to weekday afternoons on ITV and you might just recall watching Children’s Ward. Both Danny and Jane starred in the series back in the 90s – and they’re not the only soap stars who appeared in the hospital drama.
Who else started their career in Children’s Ward at the fictitious South Park Hospital?
Samia Longchambon – yep, she’s in the picture with Jane and Danny Dyer!
Better known to soap fans as Coronation Street’s Maria Connor, Samia appeared in Children’s Ward as a character called Charlotte in 1995.
Coronation Street’s Alan appeared in Children’s Ward later than his current Corrie co-stars, playing a character called Ollie in 1998. He’s now much better known as Weatherfield’s Tyrone Dobbs (above).
Now on our screens as Coronation Street’s Sarah Platt, Tina’s another famous face to appear in the show. Unfortunately she missed working with her future cobbles co-star Samia on Children’s Ward because her character Claire didn’t arrive until 1997.
Current Emmerdale star Chris Bisson is known to soap fans as Jai Sharma, and probably for his stint in Corrie as Vikram Desai. But he also starred in Children’s Ward back in the day as reoccurring character, JJ.
Actor Steven played Children’s Ward’s Joe Lloyd for three years before later going on to become a well-known face to soap fans as Coronation Street’s Ashley Peacock.
Niki is well-known to soap fans for playing Coronation Street’s Candice Stowe and for her current Hollyoaks role as Maxine Miniver (above). She also had a stint in Children’s Ward back in 2000 as a character called Abbie.
She might have appeared in both Emmerdale and Coronation Street during her career, but Vicky started her life as an actress on Children’s Ward, playing Tash in 1998.
Soap fans everywhere will know Jeff Hordley as Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (above), but 18 years ago you might have spotted him on Children’s Ward playing Anderson.
Adele’s no stranger to soaps, having briefly appeared in EastEnders many years ago, before going to Emmerdale as Kelly Windsor and most recently appearing in Hollyoaks as Angela Brown. She also appeared in Children’s Ward back in 1991 as a character called Lou.
