Singer Jay McGuiness has been confirmed as the tenth celebrity competing in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Jay’s best known as one fifth of boyband The Wanted, who released three albums and racked up ten Top 10 hits, including All Time Low and Glad You Came, before the group split last year to pursue solo projects.
The news was announced on BBC Radio 1 on Monday when Jay joined Matt Edmondson live in the studio and revealed the news on air.
Jay said: “My family are such huge Strictly fans, I know I’ve made them very happy by taking part – I can’t wait to get started! I love to dance but this is going to be so different from anything I have done before, I’m up for it!”
Jay McGuiness joins Jeremy Vine, Ainsley Harriott, Kellie Bright, Georgia May Foote, Katie Derham, Carol Kirkwood, Peter Andre, Daniel O’Donnell and Anthony Ogogo who have already been confirmed for this year’s Strictly. More names will be announced in due course.
