It’s the quarter finals of The X Factor 2009 – and the five remaining acts tackled songs by Take That and Elton John in a bid to win their semi-final place
Danyl kicked off the Take That half of the show with a lively version of Relight My Fire
Lloyd was next, singing A Million Love Songs – but he got a mixed reception from the judges
Olly began his rendition of Love Ain’t Here Any More by serenading a member of the audience – much to her surprise!
Joe was joined on stage by a troupe of dancers for his rendition of Could It Be Magic
The judges loved Stacey’s rendition of Rule The World, which brought the Take That section to a close
Lloyd was first on in the Elton John half of the show with I’m Still Standing – but will he be after this performance?
After his uptempo first song, Danyl seemed back on familiar ground singing the classic Elton ballad Your Song
Joe sang Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word – and won himself a standing ovation from the judges for the second week running
Stacey’s version of Something About The Way You Look Tonight rounded off the show
The results show began with a group performance of the Scissor Sisters chart-topper I Don’t Feel Like Dancing
This week’s guests included Alicia Keys, who performed a medley of her songs Empire State Of Mind, Doesn’t Mean Anything and No-One
Rihanna also appeared on the show, performing her new single Russian Roulette
With Stacey, Joe and Danyl all through to next week, who would be joining them and who would be going home? Would it be Lloyd….
…..or a somewhat nervous looking Olly?
In the end though it was Lloyd whose time on the show was over – and Simon was among the first to commiserate the teenager
Lloyd put a brave face on his departure and thanked the public for keeping him in the contest for so long
And Cheryl predicted that the 16-year-old would ‘blossom into a little star’. And so the semi-final beckons…..
