There’s just one week to go until the final of The X Factor 2010 – and five remaining acts hoping they wouldn’t fall at the final hurdle. They each performed two songs in a bid to make it to next weekend’s show…..
Rebecca Ferguson opened the first half of the show with a rousing rendition of Robyn’s Show Me Love
Mary Byrne appeared to be enjoying herself immensely as she performed Never Can Say Goodbye, her first song of the night
Cher Lloyd’s first song of the evening was the 2010 hit Nothing On You by B.O.B – which gave her a chance to show off her rapping skills yet again
Matt Cardle brought his guitar back to the stage for a pared-down version of the club classic You Got The Love
One Direction closed the show with a soaring cover of Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars. But would it be enough to steer them to the final….?
Matt Cardle kicked off the second half of the show singing the Billy Joel song She’s Always A Woman – but admitted it wasn’t his best performance
Mary Byrne gave an emotional rendition of The Way We Were in the second half – explaining it was her late mother’s favourite song
Cher made her second bid for the final with her version of the Eminem/Rihanna song Love The Way You Lie
Rebecca Ferguson won rave reviews from the judges for her second song of the night, Amazing Grace – with Louis calling her his “favourite contestant ever”
One Direction finished off the first half of the show singing the Rihanna hit Only Girl In The World – which the lady herself performed on a results show a few weeks back!
Sunday’s results show kicked off with a performance from 2008 series winner Alexandra Burke, with her new single The Silence
The cast of the hit TV series Glee also took to the stage, with their now famous rendition of Don’t Stop Believin’
While Cher opted for the Britney Spears hit Everytime
But Mary and Cher were left to battle it out for the last place in the last sing off of the series. Mary went first, performing It’s A Man’s World
In the end though it was Cher who found herself being sent through to next weekend’s final
And that meant it was Mary whose X Factor dream was over
Mary took defeat gracefully however and was quick to congratulate the teenager
She said the highlight had been meeting the soldiers and recording the charity single. And now four remain to battle it out in the final and be crowned 2010 champion….
