Eoghan Quigg has finished in third place in the 2008 final of The X Factor, after receiving the fewest number of votes from the public.
The Irish teenager – who was Simon Cowell’s last remaining act in the competition – was unable to fend off the competition from fellow finalists JLS and Alexandra.
However, he kept smiling even as the result was announced, and thanked the public for their support.
“You know, I just want to say thank you to everybody,” he said. I only wish JLS and Alexandra to go on and do their best.”
“He was up against two incredible contestants tonight,” Simon Cowell told him, “you can leave with your head held high, young man.”
Earlier in the evening, Eoghan performed a duet with Boyzone, as well as singing I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day and reprising his performance of High School Musical’s We’re All In This Together, which he sang earlier in the series.
And once again, he won rave reviews from the judges. “You are the reason I have enjoyed this series so much”, Simon said, while Louis was similarly enthusiastic. “You’re like Fed-Ex Eoghan,” he told him, “you always deliver!”
