The 34-year-old mum of two – who was voted off on Saturday night’s show revealed at a news conference that she thought the 19-year-old Scot was a worthy winner of the series.
“Leon is only five years older than my oldest son,” she said. “There is no way I would take it off a young kid like that.”
“It’s a really difficult situation – you want to stay in but how can you compete against a boy when you’re old enough to be his mum?”
“If they had called my name I would have told them to give it to him instead,” she admitted. “I believe in him that much.”
And she added that she wanted him to win over fellow finalists Rhydian and Same Difference.
“It’s not that I don’t like them,” she explained, “but I think their paths have already been carved whether they win or they don’t.”
“Leon needs to win to get his dream.”
The teenager is currently second favourite to be crowned X Factor champion according to bookmakers Paddy Power, with odds of 7-2. Rhydian remains favourite at 2-7, with Same Difference the 7-1 outsiders.
