Rachel Adedeji has become the latest act to leave X Factor after losing out to Lloyd Daniels in the sing-off.

The 18-year-old – the first of Dannii’s girls to be eliminated from the competition – had survived being in the bottom two on two previous occasions.

This time, however, she lost out after performing the Oasis hit Stop Crying Your Heart Out in a bid to stay in the competition.

Lloyd – who was facing his first sing-off – opted for the classic ballad You Are So Beautiful – but the judges were torn between the two.

Eventually, the judges reached deadlock and the result was decided by the public vote – with Rachel revealed as the performer who had received the fewest number of votes.

Afterwards a tearful Rachel said, “Thank you to everyone who’s supported me. It’s been amazing, and Dannii I’m so grateful.”

Dannii, meanwhile, admitted she was baffled by the result.

“The other contestants and all the guest mentors adored Rachel and I don’t know where it went wrong. I just hope she becomes like JLS last year and carries on.”

The outcome means that Simon is now the only judge in the contest who is yet to lose an act.

Favourites Joe McElderry and Olly Murs sailed through to next week’s show, as did twins John and Edward.

The show also featured performances from last year’s runners-up JLS and legendry rockers Bon Jovi.
