The X Factor winner Sam Bailey is on course to top the album charts with her debut at the weekend.
Early sales indications released by the Official Charts Company show she is already ahead of her nearest rival by 4,000 copies with her release The Power Of Love.
The mother-to-be has released her album way ahead of the usual autumn release date for X Factor winners, ensuring it was in the shops in time for Mother’s Day on Sunday, March 30.
She has already achieved a No 1 single with her performance of Skyscraper in the wake of her series win in December, although its first week sale was a third of that achieved a year earlier by the 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur.
If she continues to sell well she will knock George Michael off the No 1 position with his Symphonica album. It would be the highest-charting X Factor winner’s album since Alexandra Burke debuted at No 1 in October 2009, according to the chart firm.
Sam’s album includes covers of tracks such as From This Moment On and the Dreamgirls song And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going, together with the title track, originally by Jennifer Rush.
Roger Daltrey’s collaboration with terminally ill guitarist Wilko Johnson, called Going Back Home, is in line to take the No 2 spot if sales patterns continue into the weekend.
