The Voice judge Tom Jones has revealed that Oscar-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones gave birth to her son while listening to his greatest hits.

The singing legend made the revelation after auditionee Chris Grixti, who will be seen on Saturday’s show, told him that he believes he was conceived to the sounds of What’s New Pussycat.

“People have said that to me a few times, that children have been conceived while my music has been played,” he said.

“But I think one of my biggest compliments that I had was when Catherine Zeta-Jones was giving birth to her first child, she had to have What’s New Pussycat on the radio, so as soon as she started to have to push, she said ‘Put Tom on and I’ll push’.”

Saturday’s show will also see an audition by Tyler James, who was a close friend of the late singer Amy Winehouse.

The 30-year-old told the judges that he and the Back To Black singer were “like two halves of the same person,” and adds, “Unfortunately last summer, worst day of my life, Amy died and my whole life changed.

“Now she’s here with me, I know that, but it’s about me finding my own feet and the only way for me that I’m ever going to find that is through music, through singing. This competition is about me building up my confidence for myself.

“It is very important to me, very,” he admitted. There’s a lot riding on this.”

The Voice continues on BBC1 on Saturday at 7pm.
