TV Times top picks for today

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Easter Monday

Dave Allen at Peace, 9pm, BBC2

The life of Dave Allen comes under the spotlight in this biopic starring Game of Thrones’ Aidan Gillen as the legendary but sometimes controversial comic. From his childhood in Ireland to his glory days in the 70s and 80s and his relationship with his equally hilarious but troubled brother John (Conleth Hill), the drama delivers an entertaining and moving profile, with Aidan having a ball dressing up as everything from a naughty priest to a strip-teasing Pope in sketches that echo Dave Allen’s style. Look out for some cameos from Robert Bathurst as a BBC boss, and Pauline McLynn as one of the terrifying nuns who inspired the comic’s satirical take on religion. Rating: *****

Kiss Me First, 10pm, C4

Kiss Me First

This innovative series is a first for British TV drama as it blends live action with stunning animation created using motion capture technology. However, as she stumbles across a hidden section of the game, known as Red Pill, she encounters a mysterious group of people including the enigmatic Mania, the alter ego of hedonistic Tess (Simona Brown). But when Tess suddenly tracks down and befriends Leila in real life, danger is just around the corner… Rating: ****

The Island, 9pm, C4

The Island

It’s posh versus poor in the new series, with two very different groups of people being marooned on a remote island. The first group all earn less than the average wage, while the second are on at least £100,000. How much will money matter when they are stripped of everything? Neither group is aware of the other’s existence until they rock up on the same beach. The reaction of the richer group is astonishing – they don’t want to share. How will life on this class-divided island pan out? Rating: ****
