TV Times top picks for today

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Friday 12th October

Strictly Come Dancing, 6.40pm, BBC1

After the razzle dazzle of Movie Week, there’ll be no specific theme this evening – just the unadulterated glitz of classic ballroom and Latin routines. With Susannah Constantine eliminated early and no stumbling politician on the dance floor, we’re missing an obvious fall guy this year, so the couples will need to prise as many points as they can from the judges to avoid the dreaded dance-off. Hopefully, Craig has put his beloved ‘1’ paddle away! We’re really enjoying watching This Morning’s Dr Ranj light up the ballroom, and we think there’s lots more still to come from him if he can keep up the training alongside his work in A&E. Rating: *****

Killing Eve, 9.25pm, BBC1

The interplay between Sandra Oh’s Eve Polastri and Jodie Comer’s superbly bonkers Villanelle takes on a new urgency right at the start of tonight’s episode, as the dedicated agent gives the psychopathic assassin a clear chance to end the cat-and-mouse game once and for all. These two play so well off each other that it’s almost a let-down when the plot shifts back to the mole Eve was trying to get to a safe house in one piece. Can she do it? And if so, will the double agent squeak? Rating: ****

The X Factor, 8.35pm, ITV

With the Six Chair Challenge done, the surviving contestants now face Judges’ Houses. For some, this is the make or break element to the show, but it also gives all the hopefuls a chance to see how the other half live and how things might turn out if they hit the big time. But will it be Simon, Robbie, Ayda or Louis who mentors the winner this year? Rating: ****

More previews tomorrow.
