TV Times top picks for today

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Saturday 20th October

Strictly Come Dancing, 6.45pm, BBC1

It’s difficult to imagine Strictly without Bruno leaping out of his chair every two minutes and nearly knocking Shirley out in the process. But sadly he’s taking a break for a week. However, do not fear – he will be back for the Halloween special next week, flailing his arms around in ghoulish excitement, no doubt. And who better to replace him than Alfonso Ribeiro, who you might know best as Carlton from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. If you’re up to speed on your American TV, you’ll also know that Alfonso won the Strictly US equivalent, Dancing with the Stars, with a series of fun, energetic routines that set the floor alight. Don’t get too cosy, Alfonso, Bruno wants that chair back! Rating: *****

Invictus Games, 5.25pm, BBC1

It’s only been four short years since Prince Harry launched the Invictus Games in London. Since then, it has changed countless lives and showcased some incredible sporting feats. As the Games head Down Under, Alex Jones and JJ Chalmers lead the coverage, beginning with highlights from the Opening Ceremony in Sydney. The competition gets properly under way tomorrow, with the focus on road cycling. Continues daily. Rating: *****

Killing Eve, 9.25pm, BBC1

Another brilliant episode as Eve and Carolyn head to Russia hoping to learn more about an assassin held in prison. But Villanelle is one step ahead of them…

The X Factor, 8.25pm, ITV

“Your Saturday night starts right here!” Hearing Dermot O’Leary say those words can only mean one thing… The X Factor is going live! Up to now, the hopefuls have only had to impress the judges. But tonight, the final 16 – Boys, Girls, Overs and Groups – will be singing for the first time for your votes! Tune in tomorrow for the next live show. Rating: ****
