They’re back – and so is the snow! Not even the white stuff stops Nonnatus House’s finest from delivering their usual tip-top care, though, and there won’t be a dry eye in the country as Nurse Crane helps a dying woman and her husband whose home is about to be demolished. In a genius move, Sergeant Woolf, Nurse Crane’s sparring partner at Christmas, is now a permanent fixture and the pair’s barbed scenes are an absolute treat. Meanwhile, as Trixie assists pregnant stripper Nadine (Tamla Kari), Leonie Elliott makes an impressive debut as new Jamaican midwife Lucille Anderson. A sublime opener to another unmissable series. Rating: *****

Granville worries he’s lost his mojo when he fails to sell his latest exotic imports to Eric and Cyril, but it’s nothing a bit of rebranding won’t solve, especially when Granville convinces customers he has the only remedy for a plague of itchy bugs. Meanwhile, Mrs Feathertone is desperate for her ‘romantic coupling’ with Mr Newbold to be the talk of the town, and Gastric gets artistic… Rating: ****

Vera, 8.10pm, ITV

DCI Vera and her trusty sidekick DS Aiden Healey have their work cut out this week out when a woman’s body is found in the garden of her posh suburban home. The victim is mum-of-two Alison Glenn, and sadly it’s Alison’s 10-year-old son Elliot who’s the first to find his mother’s body. It soon becomes clear that the respectable mum was not what she seemed… Rating: *****
