TV Times top picks for tonight

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Sunday 6th May

The Durrells, 8pm, ITV

It’s the series finale and we’re hoping for the ultimate happy ending. Louisa and Spiro’s chemistry is undeniable, but married Spiro is a man of honour – even though his wife has walked out, nothing is straight forward. Will love conquer all? Meanwhile, there’s a circus in town, and the whole family gets involved. Larry meets a very bendy new girlfriend, Gerry makes it his mission to make sure the animals are well looked after, and Margo takes a break from her relationship woes by preparing an act to perform in the big top. Let’s just hope they don’t run away with the circus – we’d like another series, please! Rating: *****

The Woman in White, 9pm, BBC1

The Woman in White

Sir Percival and Count Fosco are plotting up a storm together as they concoct a dastardly plan to get rid of poor Anne to protect Percival’s secret and also to get their mitts on Laura’s fortune… When Marian and Walter hear the tragic news of their beloved Laura’s death, however, they are utterly bereft but also highly suspicious and, with the help of scrivener Erasmus Nash, they do their best to work out what is going on. Concludes tomorrow. Rating: ****

Bake Off: The Professionals 8pm, C4

Bake Off: The Professionals

GBBO spin-off Crème de la Crème has a new title and new hosts in comic Tom Allen and Bake Off fan favourite Liam Charles. But don’t fret, it’s still presided over by the same demanding judges – professors of patisserie perfection Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden, who’ll be measuring every meringue and scrutinising each choux bun. In tonight’s opener we meet the first six teams from top baking establishments around Britain, all of whom must put a show-stopping twist on an old classic – the Black Forest gateau. Forget Sara Lee – these bakes will be beyond your wildest dreams. The judges may not be fazed, but we mere mortals should prepare to be stunned. Rating: *****
