Damned, 10.00pm, C4

Jo Brand and Alan Davies return for a second series of this black comedy finding wry humour in the unlikeliest of places – a stretched children’s services department. Will the arrival of an annoying work-experience student prove the final straw for bunrt-out caseworkers Rose (Jo) and Al (Alan)? Comedy newcomer Himesh Patel (EastEnders) joins the cast, which also includes Isy Suttie and Kevin Eldon. Rating: *****

Bliss, 10.00pm, Sky One

Bliss Andrew Marsden Stephen Mangan

Episodes star Stephen Mangan is a travel writer living between two secret families in this new comedy. As he darts between his wife Kim (Heather Graham) and partner Denise (Jo Hartley), he goes to extreme lengths to keep his double life under wraps. The brilliant Mangan succeeds in giving the serial cheat some redeeming qualities, so you’ll end up feeling a bit sorry for him!

World War I in Colour, 9.00pm, 5SELECT

Over 500 hours of archive footage is brought to life to tell the story of World War I. Beginning at the end of 1918 after the last soldier – Canadian George L Price – has fallen, the five-part series looks back at the how, the why and the cost.
