The Highland Midwife, 8pm, Channel 5

The days leading up to the due date are an anxious time for any pregnant woman, but when you live hundreds of miles away from the nearest hospital, your anxiety levels must be off the scale! Luckily, Highland midwives Ruth, Morven and Hazel are on hand to remind the expectant mums to breathe deeply, as this fly-on-the-wall series returns for more tales of births not quite going to plan. Fans of One Born Every Minute and Call the Midwife will love the drama of a delivery in the back of an ambulance at the side of the road, a C-section and a nearly 40-hour labour… Not so sure about the poor women going through it, though! Rating: ****

Secrets of the National Trust, 9pm, Channel 5

Alan Titchmarsh arrives in style at the first site in this third series of Secrets of the National Trust – Erddig Hall in Wrexham. But he goes straight to the servants’ quarters, as it was here that most of the action took place. The Yorke family were unusually cosy with their staff, and positively encouraged affairs between servants, something that would have been a sackable offence at other stately homes. That trust was shattered in 1907, though, when a huge sum of money went missing… Meanwhile, Nigel Havers does some extreme topiary, and Angellica Bell samples cider made from Erddig’s trees. World Cup, 6.30pm, ITV

Serbia face a tough early game against Brazil (k-o 7pm). In Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic Serbia at least have an excellent midfield rock, and Dusan Tadic is capable of creating some magic, while veteran defenders Branislav Ivanovic and Aleksandar Kolarov still have some miles in them. But can they hold off Neymar and co? Also on tonight: South Korea v Germany (BBC1, k-o 3pm), Mexico v Sweden (BBC2, k-o 3pm) and Switzerland v Costa Rica (ITV4, k-o 7pm). Rating: ***

More previews tomorrow.
