Benidorm will screen tonight for the final ever time... unless Jake Canuso knows something we don't! Guest stars tonight include Claire Sweeney and Bobby Ball
Benidorm favourite Tony Maudsley, aka Kenneth, has asked everyone to say a “fond farewell” to the ITV comedy as it bows out tonight after 11 years – while Jake Cunso gave fans some hope it might not be over!
Tony, who chatted to us at the start of the series, commented: “What a blast we’ve had – one of my favourite seasons ever!! You’re gonna LOVE tonight’s ep. It’s wicked! It promises to be a good old traditional Benidorm finale so DON’T BE LATE.”
Jake Canuso, who plays Mateo, seemed to offer fans some hope that there’s still a chance of another series of Benidorm, saying: “You’re in for a treat! It’s been a great series. One of my favs! Is there a next series? I’m saying nothing.”
One fan replied: “I’m really really hoping there [is] another series… I really hope there [is] more but it’s not looking like it”.
The final visit to the Solana sees a baggage-handler strike cause chaos for the Dawsons in Benidorm. Strange things start happening as Eddie sees his supposedly dead neighbour Ron Pickford (Bobby Ball), and Billy meets his idol, Frankie goes to Hollywood singer Holy Johnson (below).
John Challis, who plays Monty, tweeted a picture of himself with Bobby Ball, declaring: “You’ve seen this funny man in Las Vegas-now he’s gone up market in Benidorm!”
Also making a guest appearance tonight is Claire Sweeney, who plays a mouthy flight attendant. “Watch my wonderful bun make an appearance,” she Tweeted.
Creator Derren Litten announced the news the show would be ending on Twitter earlier this week, writing: “Crazy to think Wednesday will be the last episode of Benidorm!
“I created the series over 11 years ago, wrote it, guest starred in it and ended up directing it. It’s difficult to think what else there is to do! Thank you for watching!”
The final Benidorm is on ITV tonight at 9pm.
