A controversial mini-series about the Kennedy family, starring Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear, is to be broadcast on BBC Two later this year.

The eight-part series, called The Kennedys, was originally set to screen on the History Channel in the United States until its parent company, A&E Television Networks, pulled it out of the schedule due to complaints over its historical accuracy.

However, it has now been confirmed that the drama, featuring Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes as JFK and Jackie, will now be shown on BBC Two in May or June of this year.

BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow said it was a ‘perfect fit’ for the channel.

“It has a very particular flavour and we are delighted to have this new addition to our schedules,” she said.

The Kennedys will also screen in the US next month on ReelzChannel, then on the UK History channel from 7 April.
