Tulisa Contostavlos’ manager has revealed that he placed the singer on suicide watch following press reports that she was involved in a drug deal.
Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, Jonathan Shalit admitted he feared for the former X Factor judge, who was also subject to online abuse.
“She got to the point where I was worried she would commit suicide,” he said.
“I made sure that someone was at her house for two consecutive nights to make sure she did nothing stupid, because she was literally at that point of she genuinely thought her life was over.”
Tulisa is currently on police bail following claims made in a Sunday paper that she had acted as a go-between in a drug deal.
She was arrested along with musician Mike GLC over the reports, in which she was alleged to have brokered a deal between a supplier and an undercover journalist.
The N-Dubz singer quit her role on The X Factor earlier this year, and will be replaced by Sharon Osbourne when the series returns next Saturday night.
