TV series for Shaun the Sheep

Shaun the Sheep – the cute, sweater-wearing character from Wallace and Gromit’s A Close Shave – has been given his own TV show.

The woolly star will feature in a new TV series made by Aardman Animations, the company behind ITV1’s hugely popular Creature Comforts shorts, and will air on CBBC later this year.

Created by Aardman boss Nick Park, the character has won over a huge fanbase.

The 40-part animated series, set on a farm, is being sold to 72 countries. Park showed off his creation days after Hollywood studio giant DreamWorks Animation ended its partnership with the creators of Wallace and Gromit.

Speculation that the five-film deal with Aardman could be headed for an early demise was rife last year after DreamWorks said it expected to lose money on the Bristol-based outfit’s latest film, Flushed Away. It is thought US film bosses were keen to switch to computer animation while Aardman wanted to stick to Plasticine.
