Tyler ‘gutted’ at The Voice tour cancellation

The Voice runner-up Tyler James told BBC’s Newsbeat that he is ‘gutted’ the live tour will not go ahead.

The final eight contestants of the hit singing competition were set to perform in an 11-gig UK tour in September, however poor tickets sales forced bosses to pull the plug on the events.

Explaining why he thought the tour had been cancelled the 30-year-old singer said: “Maybe they oversold it and thought it was going to do better than it would do. It’s a shame.”

Tyler, who was close friends with Amy Winehouse, said: “The amount of people who spoke to me on Twitter saying they had been looking forward to it, I’m really gutted for them too.”

In response to the criticism the BBC received after a huge decline in viewers of The Voice after a strong start, Tyler said: “I’m still grateful for the opportunity to perform in front of five million people.”

Despite of the bad news, Tyler seems to be in good spirits and is currently busy recording a new album. He’s also planning to record songs with his coach from The Voice, Will.I.Am.
