Vernon Kay has apparently pulled out of a major new Saturday night show – because he thinks it’s too daft.
But when he filmed the pilot recently, Vernon was said to be stunned by its stupidy.
The ITV1 show sees celebrities such as Jedward, Darren Gough and Chesney Hawkes trying to sing while having knives thrown at them, having their chests waxed or other stunts. Their efforts are judged by fellow stars.
But, according to The Sun, Vernon said: “Following the pilot the producers and I talked about the tone of the show.
“And we all agreed that because of the mix of comedy and slapstick challenges it would benefit from having a comedian to host it.”
It’s been reported that Leigh Francis – as his alter ego Keith Lemon – will now host the show, due to begin next month.
An insider said: “Vern would never describe himself as a serious sort of bloke, but this show was a bit crazy even for him.
“It was chaos on set and he just didn’t know what to do with himself half the time.”
