The 81-year-old cooking supremo and former Bake Off judge gets viewers all hot and bothered with her version of cheese and leek pie on Mary Berry Everyday
Mary Berry has stirred up yet another culinary controversy, this time over a simple pie.
The former Great British Bake Off judge had previously taken some stick on social media for using white wine, thyme, cream and an oven to create her version of spaghetti bolognese in Mary Berry Everyday.
Now the 81-year-old’s hearty potato, leek and cheese pie is at the centre of a new storm, with viewers insisting it was a “casserole with a lid” because it did not have a pastry base.
Mary’s sticky toffee pudding also came in for some criticism and did not escape unscathed on last night’s show, with viewers expressing their disappointment that it didn’t contain dates.
Mary’s recipes on the BBC programme have been a talking point each week and have stirred up plenty of viewer feedback!
As well as “bolognese-gate”, the 81-year-old surprised viewers by stirring garlic into her pizza dough last week, while admitting that she had never had a pizza delivered to her home. Meanwhile she was also blasted for including posh ingredient lobster for one of her “everyday” recipes and using venison in her version of a shepherd’s pie.
What will Mary knock up next week? A Victoria sponge with no sponge? Or maybe a tomato soup made of peppers? Whatever she does, one thing is certain, her loyal followers won’t hold back in telling the former Bake Off judge exactly what they think!
