The Voice winner Leanne Mitchell has failed to make an impact on the charts with her debut single, after it missed out on a place in this weekend’s top 40.

The former holiday camp entertainer had been number 27 in the midweek rankings with her cover version of Whitney Houston’s Run To You – which was released just hours after she won the final of the BBC1 series last Saturday night.

However it had dropped to number 45 by the time Sunday’s chart was released.

Leanne was crowned surprise winner of the show ahead of fellow finalists Bo Bruce, Tyler James and Vince Kidd, landing herself a record deal with Universal around £500,000.

However Bo – who had been favourite to win the final – has enjoyed more chart success after an EP she recorded and released before appearing on the show made it to number two in the midweek iTunes chart.

“I can’t quite believe what’s happening – I can’t thank you all enough… and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to – other than to keep making music for you,” Bo said on her blog.

“But thank you, thank you, thank you all so much for the tweets, the emails, the love and of course the votes.”

Meanwhile there was also disappointment for former X Factor finalist Aiden Grimshaw, as his debut single Is This Love only managed to reach number 35.

Aiden was a contestant on the 2010 series of the show, exiting midway through the live finals which were ultimately won by Matt Cardle.
