The Walking Dead has been renewed for series 11.

Earlier this weekend, it was officially revealed at yesterday’s Comic Con event in New York that the sci-fi series will be renewed for its 11th season.

She confirmed that actress Lauren Cohan, who played major character Maggie Green on the AMC horror series between 2011 and 2018, will be making a comeback.

Speaking about the role reprisal, the actress spoke out at Comic Con, saying, “It’s completely surreal.

“It feels just like home. It feels so emotional. It feels really, really emotional. I feel like this is a very special Comic-Con and a very special family and I’m really happy to be here.”

Lauren left after series nine when character Maggie decided against seeking justice for the death of her love Glenn, played by Steven Yeun, but showrunner Angela has previously hinted that she might be making a comeback at some point.

Speaking earlier this year, she said, “I’m not sure if I can say much about it right now actually. I’ll just say that we’re working on it.”

The show, which is known for its ability to cut and introduce beloved characters regularly, will also be cutting another character in the upcoming season, with Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, set to leave the show.

Speaking about the show’s brutal killings, executive producer Denise Huth said, “Part of the gift and the challenge of being on the air so long is you have to start figuring out new ways to tell stories and how to introduce characters and how to lose characters.

“I think Angela has done a phenomenal job this year of addressing all those problems.”
