Luther star Warren Brown says he hasn’t seen a script, but he has his fingers crossed that the movie will be made.

The actor, who played DS Ripley in the hit BBC1 crime series, told Whjat’s on TV at the National TV Awards: “[Luther creator] Neil Cross released a statement and said that [the movie] is a prequel and he couldn’t make it without me, but until I sign on and start filming you don’t know.

Has he seen the script? “I’ve not seen anything, so at the moment a lot of it is rumours… I think it would be fantastic, it’s got a really good cinematic feel to it, Luther, so I’d absolutely love to be part of it, so yeah, fingers crossed.”

Warren added that his independant film, The Greatest Englishman, a period drama about the first man to swim the English Channel, is due out soon.
