Warwick Davis has confirmed he will be in Star Wars: Episode VII.
The actor – who played Wicket the Ewok in Return Of The Jedi and Weazel and Wald in The Phantom Menace – posted a video on YouTube revealing that he would be in director JJ Abrams’ film.
The video is titled Will Warwick David Appear In Star Wars: Episode VII? and sees the British star sitting at his desk having a mock conversation with JJ, who is offering him the part.
“Let me think about that…” he says, before covering the phone and shouting “Yes!”
“May the force be with you,” he added, before hanging up.
Warwick later tweeted: “Wow! I am overwhelmed to hear how pleased you all are that I’m going back to that famous galaxy, far, far away… Thank you.”
No details of the plot for the new instalment have been released, but it is set 30 years on from the events of the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI – The Return Of The Jedi.
Original Star Wars actors Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker are back and will be joined by new cast including Adam Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow.
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe recently sparked rumours he might have a cameo after he visited the set at Pinewood Studios, but the Daily Mirror reported that he was just there for a look around.
A source said: “Dan’s been on many a big budget set, but really wanted to see the Star Wars set in action. It’s one of the biggest films in production so even other actors want to pay the set a visit.
“Because it was Dan, everyone thought he must be making a cameo appearance in it, but he wasn’t.”
Star Wars: Episode VII is due to be released in cinemas on December 18, 2015.
