Miss The Killing? Can’t wait for the new series of The Bridge? If you’re hankering after another fix of Nordic Noir, then The Legacy might be right up your street…
For the last few years BBC4 has been the undisputed home of Scandi-drama in the UK, but earlier this year Sky Arts beat a host of rivals to secure the rights to this 10-part drama, which has already been well received in its native Denmark, where a second series is currently in production.
The series tells the story of four siblings trying to cope with their mother’s death, as Sky Arts explains in ints press notes.
“Renowned, eccentric Danish artist Veronika Grønnegaard is dying of cancer. Along with her art, she’ll leave behind a huge country mansion and an eclectic family consisting of four adult children. Gro, the eldest daughter works with her mother…
“The middle sons are Frederik, who has cut off all contact with his mother, and Emil, who only contacts his mother when he needs money. Finally there is Signe, the youngest daughter, who Veronika gave up for adoption when she was born. Signe has no idea that she is Veronika’s daughter until she is contacted by her and immediately discovers the truth about her biological family.”
The Legacy begins on Sky Arts 1 at 10pm on Wednesday, November 26.
