VIDEO: The hit BBC One series about stylish London conmen, Hustle, begins a new series in early May.

All the core cast, including Robert Vaughn and Jamie Murray, are back for the fourth series, while a new character played by former So Solid Crew member Ashley ‘Asher D’ Walters makes his entrance.

“I’m happy to be a part of it all,” Ashley explains. “I’ve watched Hustle since it started.”

Ash plays a young upstart called Billy who joins the posse after Mickey Bricks, played by Adrian Lester, leaves. And the actor’s own past, including his jail time, helped him find the good in his new character.

“Billy’s based on a lot of different people I’ve met along the way,” he reveals.

“When I was in prison, I was very quiet. There was a lot of people that didn’t want me to be there. I don’t know why – it’s prison! I spent a lot of time thinking about that, listening to people. I was banged up at one point with a rapist, another guy who shot people. Talking to them, you come to realise there’s a heart in everyone.”
