Top names join all-star cast voicing the rabbits
The BBC has released a string of beautiful pictures from their Christmas adaptation of Richard Adams’ bestselling novel Watership Down – which promises to be one of the highlights of the festive season.
They also announced new casting for Watership Down, which will be shown on BBC1 this Christmas.
Former Time Lord Peter Capaldi has joined the all-star cast as the seagull and Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike as The Black Rabbit Of Inlé,
Other top names revealed include Mackenzie Crook as Hawkbit, Rory Kinnear as Cowslip, Lee Ingelby as Captain Campion and Craig Parkinson as Sainfoin.
They join James McAvoy as Hazel, alongside Fiver (Nicholas Hoult), Bigwig (John Boyega), Clover (Gemma Arterton) and Strawberry (Olivia Colman).
The amazing cast is rounded off by Sir Ben Kingsley as General Woundwort, Freddie Fox as Captain Holly, Anne-Marie Duff as Hyzenthlay and Miles Jupp as Blackberry.
It was also announced that the adaptation will include an original song by Sam Smith, who performed Writing’s on the Wall for the James Bond movie Spectre.

Watership Down, which has been adapted by Tom Bidwell, tells the story of a band of rabbits on their flight from the destruction of their home.
Watership Down will be shown on BBC1 this Christmas.
