Our Everest Challenge, 9pm, ITV

This one-off film follows Ben Fogle and Victoria Pendleton as they attempt to climb the world’s highest mountain. Adventurer Ben has always dreamt of reaching the icy summit, while his friend Victoria – the double Olympic gold medallist – is never one to shy away from a challenge. After training for two years, they set off from Kathmandu before trekking to Everest Base Camp to acclimatise. Since 1953, when climbers were first recorded reaching the summit, nearly 300 have died attempting the same feat. The pair are excited and prepared, but both are pushed to their absolute limits as they try to reach the top of the world. Rating: *****

Celebrity MasterChef, 8pm, BBC1

Another five celebrities are having their culinary skills tested to the limit. They are ex-EastEnders actor John Partridge, former Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, Made in Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews, presenter Jean Johansson and Carry On star Anita Harris. After serving John and Gregg her Mystery Box meal, Anita quips to camera: ‘I think they might have to go to hospital!’ Continues tomorrow (8.30pm). Rating: ****

Paranormal Lockdown UK, 9pm, Quest Red

Established in 1625, Shepton Mallet Prison was one of the UK’s oldest jails and is the site of numerous executions and unmarked graves. Closed in 2013, it lies abandoned, but is it as empty as it seems? Paranormal investigators Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman find out by spending 72 hours in the spooky slammer! Rating: ***
