Harry Potter legend Daniel Ratcliffe and Oscar-winner Kate Winslet also in new series
Jack Whitehall and his dad Michael will become the first father and son to take part together in Who Do You Think You Are? when it returns to BBC1 this summer.
The pair, who previously teamed up for two series of the Netflix hit Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father, will trace their family history in the show’s 16th series.
The BBC teased that Jack and his dad will “engage in some ancestral political banter as they identify their link to the Newport Rising”.
Also, taking part in the new series are Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe, Oscar-winning star Kate Winslet, and James Bond actress Naomie Harris. Plus Have I Got News For You? team captain Paul Merton, comedy star Katherine Ryan, television personality Mark Wright and music mogul Sharon Osbourne.
The Beeb revealed that Daniel Radcliffe would unearth moving letters from World War One, while Kate Winslet investigates her Swedish roots. While they also teased that “one celebrity uncovers an ancestor burned at the stake”.
Abigail Priddle, BBC Commissioning Editor for Specialist Factual, said: “I’m thrilled that the Bafta-winning Who Do You Think You Are? is returning to BBC1, now in its 16th series and with another amazing line up of celebrities who will be delving into their ancestry. It promises to be a real treat for viewers.”
