The Incredible Journey (1963 Disney) is one of my favorites, made at a time before computer aided gimickry the live action film tells the story… well of an incredible journey. Two dogs one cat, virtually represent the cast, the characters of the animals really comes through. The pets have adventures as they make their way across the country to be reunited with their owners. Sometimes exciting, but always heart-rending.It is a capitivating story, which will enteryain the whole family. What is truly amazing is how well trained the animals were – there is real skill involved there. Personally, it would get my vote.

The Neverending Story – truly a magical adventure story about how troubled boy gets enveloped into the unfolding story of “The Neverending Story”. In an age before CGI and 3D glasses, the effects in this film were truly amazing. The achievements of this film by Wolfgang Petersen, meant soon afterwards he was moving onto Hollywood blockbusters and this film generated quite a few sequels.

The Swallows and The Amazons as me and my friends/family used to go camping a lot and sailing too! My dad had a speedboat and a dingy so we used to go fishing for flatties just off the shore – to cook on our camping fire!

An oldie but a goodie…. the original Disney 101 Dalmations. When my kiddies were little (well over 20 years ago now) they wouldn’t go to bed until we watched the film every night for well over 6 weeks! I knew it word for word and it drove me crazy! But now, whenever I see it or hear about it, I always smile and wish myself back to those simpler days
